    Hi all,

Getting married next year in Portugal and the Civil paperwork is confusing me.

Ive filled out the online application form, along with the 2 statutory declarations and has these signed in presence of a solicitor. Ive also copied our passports

Ive just been told that I need a new birth cert now, because it must be issued within 6 months of the wedding

Can someone who has been through the process let me know if Im missing anything, and what the next steps are?

    Thanks

Hi! I got married in Portugal a couple of years ago. I am portuguese though what we did was go into the notaries office a week before the wedding (we had pre-booked this appointment), ID's in hand, the notary went through the law and we signed what needed to be signed and paid, then we paid a bit extra for her to go to place where we got married and perform the ceremony.
Best thing to do is call your local notary and ask for "directions".
Keep in mind any paperwork you submit must be either original or a certified copy of it the portuguese services are obsessed with
    "fake! documents.
Another way to go is to contact the portuguese embassy in dublin (better head over they are very hard to get on the phone) and ask them for help:

On the other hand it is worth the hasle as you will have a hell of a party, we had a great time! Wouldn't have gotten married anywhere else!
