Can Republic of Ireland citizens apply to civil service jobs in Northern Ireland?
I'd be willing to move across the border for a nice government job.

You can apply for any department except for the Ministry of Defence, Home Office and Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Thank you for the response. I don't think I'd apply for a position in the Ministry of Defence anyway. Don't want the Shinners shooting at me lol!

Similar policy applies here (with different Department names obviously). Lots of non-nationals in the Irish civil service.

    Does that include non-EU nationals?

Usual rule- it has to be advertised within the EU and only if no non-EU citizen is found who is willing, capable, holds the requisite qualifications and passes security checks- will a non-EU citizen be considered.

If you're a non-EU national- your best bet really is to ring and ask though (as the rules do change- and for specific competitions where few people with the requisite qualifications may be applying, maybe they might consider broadening the competition. Look at the current AO ICT with significant Java experience for the Department of Education- Java is in high demand and an experienced Java programmer can get significantly higher pay in the private sector- so why bother even applying for half the salary in the public sector (etc)

Nothing ventured, nothing gained- ring them and ask.
