Hi can anyone recommend me a good car alarm system to buy ? Looking for one that if you touch the car it'll let you know its armed , and if it receives a bang or someone tries to open the handle it will go off . and lastly it has to be loud :D

    Cheers

    pudzey

Yep, blackjack is the job too, they won't get away even if they gave your keys.
    Remote start handy too.

As above, Clifford are the aftermarket alarms I've put on all my cars, never let me down and very good for peace of mind.

Brendan in mds Ireland, Palmerstown comes highly recommended, he's done all my cars over the years.

For what you're looking for, I'd recommend getting the proximity sensors, you can set the sensitivity level on it and it'll sound any time someone is near the car too long. Black jacks is good but can be a pain, especially if a friend is borrowing the car etc, it costs a few quid too. Remote start is handy but I've never bought it.

You asked for good . How many years has it to last ? Most give up after short number of years apart from Clifford.

    I'd second MDS.
The Clifford concept 650 is what you want.
    Proximity sensors and blackjax

Definitely go with the Clifford. Not cheap (mine cost about €800 I think) but it means I can sleep at night without worrying about my car so as far as Im concerned its money well spent! I wouldnt even consider putting a cheaper alarm in the car; as far as Im concerned the knowledge that there is a Clifford in the car (the blue light, the control panel for the Blackjax and the prox sensor) is half the battle won.

Ill second whoever above mentioned MDS; Brendan does a great job and they will really look after you going forward.

Its pretty easy to put the alarm into valet mode if you need to let someone else drive it. The Blackjax system was the main selling point of the Clifford for me; the idea that even if someone does get in and get it started, I wont have to look too far down the road to find it!

Yeah. Once you get used to it the blackjax is grand.
Simple to deactivate it if it's going in for a service or your loaning the car to someone.

+1 for Brendan in MDS. He did a couple of jobs on my cars last year, including trying to figure out the dodgy wiring from the previous alarm. Took him 2 hours longer than expected and only charged me an extra €20. Lovely bloke.

Only thing I had with the clifford & blackjax was disabling it for servicing or whatever.

Never seemed to turn off completely :( never figured what I was doing wrong either; followed all the steps

Never had an issue disabling blackjaxx, ya sure ya were doing it right?

Once you enter your pin with ignition on and press lock/unlock on the fob then your blackjax should de activate untill you do it again. The car will still auto immobilise though regardless of this. With the car being nct'd before I've had to tell the tester to turn the key in the ignition and lock/unlock first to knock off the auto immobiliser which is what may have been happening to you.

Blackjax is just the system that locks the door automatically and disables the car is the PIN is not put in. Its basically just so you dont have to give the PIN to a stranger.

All other parts of the alarm (siren, immobilizer etc) are still active in valet mode.
