Hi all i am new to boards and just registered today. now i had a very serious legal issue with regards a garda refusing to take a complaint for the garda ombudsman. this i have well documented. now i posted this tread on a few places on this web site it was removed very quickly. I have received emails about comments however i am unable to reply to them. then i was permentaly banned from the laois forum. is this the ireland we have become when people who have no idea about law or anything legal takes down your comments because they dont flow in the direction they want. well heres some advice i want. can someone tell me how to delete myself from this site and can i recieve a copy of all data this sites owners have stored on their systems about me and can the very powerful people who delete comments answer my private messages. thanks

Im well aware of the ombudsmans office and their procedures now from my experience a duty sargent at any garda station must upon request facilitate a complaint to the ombusmans office they have a special book for this purpose. They do NOT have the right to REFUSE a complaint.

Loads of options it seems :
How do you make a complaint?

You can make a complaint to the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission in the following ways:
    In person

Call into our headquarters at 150 Upper Abbey Street, Dublin 1

    • To the Garda Commissioner or any member of An Garda Síochána at any Garda Station

    • To any member of An Garda Síochána at or above the rank of Chief Superintendent at any place
    Online

Online by using the online complaints form - click here to make a complaint by submitting the online GSOC 1 form
    In writing

Send your complaint in writing to GSOC, 150 Abbey Street Upper, Dublin 1 or by fax to 01 814 70 23

In all instances you will be asked to complete a "GSOC 1" complaints form.

Your video highlights that the duty sergeant was unavailable which the garda you were talking to said that he had told you multiple times.
Why didn't you make an appointment and come back later when he was there/available?
Also, you can't be that worried about your privacy if you posted up a video on YouTube where you freely mention your own name.

I've watched it. If he couldn't find him then he couldn't find him. Why didn't you ask to make an appointment to come back or contact the ombudsmen directly?

I know your name from somewhere so I do. Did not recognise the voice, but I do know of your name from somewhere.

You might be better off not speaking to any Unit Sergeant in any station, from my own experience!
Have you tried any other station or just that one where they see you coming and God knows what they are saying about you behind that hatch when they do.

Do you seriously think they will take a complaint from a member of the public against one of their own, regardless of what your rights are? Seriously?

They need their numbers and don't really care what their members do as they need numbers. Why would they facilitate any complaint against one of their own full-timers?

Besides, do a google search and you could find info on documents allegedly going missing and turning up some time later. Who is to say that your complaint would not see that same fate?

You should go straight to the Ombudsman Office where you can only then be certain they received it imo if you are serious about this.

I can't see how you are not being treated like an equal or an infringement of your rights. What is the problem with making an appointment to meet with a Garda at a time that suits you and the Garda? I just cannot understand how people can expect everything to be put on hold there and then.

Look taking a complaint can be a lengthy process sometimes taking up to 30-60 mins. Most times there is only one Garda working in the station whose job it is to look after the hatch (people coming into the station), the telephones and the radios. Portlaoise is a divisional headquarters and is therefore a very busy station looking after counties Laois and Offaly.

Save your yourself some stress and make an appointment.
