Bsc Computer Applications - Advice -

    Hi

A friend of mine has completed and passed 3 years of the Bsc in Computer Applications but didn't complete or sit exams of her 4th year last year.

Has anybody got any advice regarding how to sit the 4th year again or does anybody know anything about 'exemptions' with regard getting onto another course etc.? (Felt she couldn't get through the final year of C.A)

I'm not sure what her eligibility is on the above but it would be a shame to have completed 3 years of a degree course.

All and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Can't she just repeat the year?

I dont think she really wants to repeat it, found it extremely hard and overwhelming. Just wondering were there any other options available to her to maybe get onto another course taking into account she already has 3 years passed on the BSc Computer Applications.

Probably her only other option is to transfer to a different college to do a 4th year of that college's Computer Science degree course.

Could she transfer to the final year of Enterprise Computing in DCU either?

If she got through third year I don't see why she wouldn't be fit for final year. Subject choice plays a huge part in it too. I just graduated from CA this year and I know there are a good few repeating from my class.

Though other than that maybe as suggested above switch to a different college if possible. I'm sure there's some help out there for such decisions, maybe even an advisor in DCU of some kind?

Thanks so much for your replies, Ive passed on info about the BSc in Enterprise Computing. She struggled a lot through the whole 3 years with many repeats so its good to know that there's other things she could do with the 3 years she's already passed rathar than sit the final year again of Computer Applications.

Yeah I don't think she was happy with her subject choices, found it all very difficult.

Think the best move would be to email someone in DCU about choices but good to get some suggestions here! Thanks

I recommend that she complete the final year.

With the degree she can do a post grad in whatever subject takes her interest.

    Better than starting again.

I know personally know 2 people did this.
Their primary degrees were in completely different subject to the post grad and they are now both very successful & happy in their respective careers.

Thanks, she hasn't contacted the college about repeating after she didn't sit exams this summer. Can she still repeat next year I wonder, Sept 2014.
Wonder what the fee is like to repeat the year also.
