Battery light on dim with ignition off

    Hi,

I have an 03 Fabia and noticed today that the battery light is on the dash even with the ignition off. I checked the battery with a multimeter and it was up around 12.4V and with the engine running it was up around 13.9V
So the alternator seems ok to me, although maybe a failed diode in there could cause a leakage to keep the light on, or this mean the battery is failing, or is there possibly a bad ground somewhere?
Just wondering of anyone has had this problem before.

    Thanks

If you suspect a diode you could do a quick check by slipping off the drive belt to see if the alternator will run as a motor.
