If you spit in Santry it is a bog, so I wouldn't hold out too much hope for good underfoot conditions.

The ladies race is shaping up to be a great race (behind F.Briton of course). Would be extra special if these 2 ladies were in the mix.

That was epic. A great day of athletics. One of the best sporting spectacles for a while and lifts the spirits after the rubbish in the Aviva yesterday. Great performance from Pollock, The O'Hares, Britton, McCormack, McGlynn, Durkan, Buttner, Tobin, Finnegan and some fantastic finishes. Well organised too especially after the scumbags that ripped the course up the night before.

I should have included Mick Clohissey in that list too

Also without naming names some of the juvenile races were fantastic with some outstanding performances, very enjoyable to watch.

Pity about end of boys u16 race though, the winner should have been 3rd, Monahan had that won..

It was a shame alright but was it a case of the athlete not knowing the course? or did the stewards usher him in that direction?
I was standing there but missed what actually happened.
I have the following 5 minutes on video but won't upload it to hide some peoples blushes.

There was confusion all morning on what and where people were running, every official you asked had a different story. I myself had an u14 in the boys race, we thought we were doing the small lap first, then the big lap. But as I watched the start of the girls u14, I seen it was now the big lap first, followed by the small lap, so I raced down to tell the boys as they were in their pens..
I too, was standing there and seen the two lads racing past me and then all hell broke loose, yes, there were some unsavoury scenes taking place for a while over the incident alright. I did notice after that race, the officials were well out on the track guiding runners around the loop but for the end of the u16 race, I don't know if they were out guiding the boys.

I had a fairly clear view of the fiasco, the two leading boys turned into the finish straight (as the u14s had) and ran straight into the plastic taping (and got tangled up in it) the steward was standing in front of the tape, not directing anyone, but I think he got a shock that the boys turned and didn't continue around, the 3rd place boy had enough time and also at this stage the steward was directing him, to go the right course. Unfortunately the first two boys, Curtin (who fell) and Monaghan seemed shocked and remarkably recovered and as the top three had quite a lead, they were able to finish 2nd and 3rd. I do think Monaghan would have won. I had a look at the course map again and it doesn't show the short lap that the u14s ran (where they turned into the finish). There definitely has to be more clarity with the course maps.
