    Hi All

Just looking for some advise here.

I didnt start my car for 8 months and decided yesterday was the big day.

My battery in Peugoet was dead so i connect the jump leads to another car. I tried to start after about 5 mins but not a kick out of it. Electronic all came on when leads were connected.

So i left the jump lead connect and the other car running for about an hour and decided to try it again. It did even kick the first time but to my delight the second time it actually started. I got our of the Peugoet and disconnected the jump leads. Suddenly the car just died. I connected the jump lead up again and im back to square one. Not a kick out of it. I can hear a click (Prob starter) when i try start. After that i gave up.

Today being a new day i am thinking of buying a new battery, connecting it up and hopefully getting it to start.

I am looking for advise from people who know about cars, not like me. So am i doing the right thing here? do you think the car died because i disconnected the jump leads too soon?

In the back of my mind i dont want to connect a new battery and try start, causing damage to the car.

Secondly, if i am to connect a new battery, is it just straight forward swap out. I know i have to turn everything off and take the key out of car. Is that it?

Any advise would be great :)

    Car is 2.0 diesal 2004 136 bhp
