    Hey guys, been out off the loop in terms of windows for a fair while so was wondering what the best free av/fw solution for windows 8.1 was :confused:

    It has built in a/v, unless you disabled that.

    AV is never 100% foolproof. If the user is not computer savvy they will get riddled with infections no matter what.

    For my windows 7 pc I use Avast as my always on anti-virus along with monthly scans from Malwarebytes, SuperAntispyware and Kaspersky TDSSKiller. If you are going with this search google to make these compatible with each other (I did this only for Avast and Malwarebytes and have had no issue).

    Check out http://www.av-test.org/en/tests/home-user/windows-8/janfeb-2013/ for ratings on different anti-virus software.
