I have a Galaxy note 10.1 at the moment but I don't find it comfortable to hold and find myself using my not 3 more and more when at home so I think an 8inc tablet will suit me better I just can't decide which to go for I would also like a tablet that will be updated to 4.3 at least

I would highly recommend the newly released Lg G Pad 8.3" quad core tablet. Check out all the reviews from google and youtube, they are generally all positively raving about it. I got mine from Asda here in the uk (with special discount :) ) but from what i gather Harvey Norman's i think sell them exclusively in Ireland.

What do you think of the battery on the LG after looking at some YouTube videos I could be persuaded lol

Typing from this atm lol, i really only received the tab yesterday and still playing around with it. While having installed Nova the fps game which runs flawlessly i only played it once to test it out for about 10 mins. Mainly just been installing stuff, browsing, reading comics pdfs and the like , but from my initial full charge yesterday about midnight and just playing around with it all day today its down to about 25 percent battery after moderate use all day as i say.

That said there have been a few grumbles around certain forums about battery life alright, but for my usage its ok.

Good thing about this is its really easy to root, though still figuring out what to do with the super user power lol !

I've also been comparing these three for the last while and trying to choose which one to get for "my daughter" for Christmas.
For me it comes down to price, at the moment the tab 3 8 is €219 on littlewoodsireland, the LG gpad is €339 in Harveys and the Note 8 is €369.
If it it wasn't down to money I'd go for the Note 8 for the quad core and spen functionality.

    Isn't the pad quad core?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭chopster

Yep, 1.7 ghz quad core, 2gb ram with a 1920 x 1200 screen.... that was the deal maker for me, the screen, as though the screen is not small or very large for that matter i wanted to browse the web and read mags and comics without zooming in and out all the time.

How did you get on in Harveys ?

I'm in the market for an 8inch tablet as well. There are rumours of an upcoming Nexus 8 so I am going to wait for that to be announced before making a decision.

The rumours may well be true, but seemingly the rumour also states that the rumoured Nexus 8 will be based on the G Pad as LG also do the screens for the Nexus' and so being a Nexus brand will be considerably more expensive than the G Pad.

More and more reviews on YouTube and tech sites and saying that the LG g pad is a really good tablet I think this will be the one I get

Lol ! In the space of a few days from just not liking the LG skin then reading up all the reviews and hype, to being a "done deal" and that's without making it to Friday to actually see the pad !

...mind you so did i lol !
