    What are your settings like in Safari's Prefrences,,, under the general Tab at the bottom, you have

    Save downloads to (wherever you want) usualy the downloads folder and

    Remove download list items: is it set to manual or something else?

    Same as my own settings,, im a Firefox man but i do use Safari the odd time, i havent run into these problems, im gona start using it over the next few days to see if i run into them at any point, sorry i cant be of more help
