Just wondering where I could get hold of mineral blocks that are mounted high up on d wall, there's also a hole through the middle of the mineral block which helps it rotate when its licked,I don't know what brand they are?

I only tried them the one year and found them a nuisance anyway. Used to work for Timac for few months selling them and few people reported the same

Stand the bucket in a tyre outside the feed barrier.

Bagged minerals throw on top of silage or ration. As my ration is spec'ed for finishing it is only 1% minerals when I feed i use a little extra soya to boot protein and I add minerals. If store cattle 500kgs are being fed they are only getting 20grams they need 100grams/head. I have a container that measures 500grams. For 15 this means I need 1200grams. I just give two and a third containers into a bucket and spread accross silage or ration.

cheers farmer, was thinking of making some frame or something to hold the bucket on the barrier or something

What I dislike about Bucket minerals is that they contain a lot of molasses. If i feed and cattle are hungry they over use the mineral buckets. At present I am using a general purpose mineral from Nutrobio it is supposed to be one of the best on the market. So if I want cattle to finish silage in fron of them I have no fear that they compensate with the mineral bucket.

I also find this issue during the summer as you try to clean out paddocks as paddocks get bare cattle attack the buckets so you hvae to watch and remove access to them.

yeah i noticed last winter that a bucket would last about 2 weeks in a pen of 5 weanlings

there is a block with a hole in the middle that sits on a frame that bolts to the top of the dividing gate, simple job, check out mayo healthcare site

As well as cost I like the powdered minerals onto silage.
I feel more sure they are all getting their share. With buckets I see the bully beating the others back from it.
