I'm no expert but I'd say it could handle it fairly well, maybe not 100+ fps but really it doesn't matter since there is very little difference after 30. If your looking just to play casually, that PC should do it. :)

There's a great little site for checking if your system has the requirements for loads of games

    The processor is extremely slow.

Wouldn't preform that well to be honest. The processor and graphics are extremely week. I don't usually recommend it but on eBay you can get gaming pc's that would be able to handle minecraft no bother for about 300-400 euro, Only problem is you may not get a warranty or an operating system, Its usually one or the other around that price range on eBay.

If you wanted a computer to play more then just minecraft I would recommend saving a bit more and building or getting someone to build you a proper low end gaming machine for about 400-500 euro, Then you'd be flyin.

An old PC off adverts with a basic 3D gfx card will run minecraft fine.

Not if you want to mod the game or play on the bigger servers.

You replying to me or the OP?

To you, Sorry ill be a bit more specific.

To play minecraft with mods, texture packs big servers etc.. to get the full experience out of the game I think the requirements to play would be:

Minimum: (Will play vanilla fine and some mods)

    Low end 3D graphics Card
    2GB of RAM
    Duel-core processor at 2.4ghz

Recommended: (Will manage everything above no problem)

Low end Gaming Card (Example: gt 430)
4GB of Ram (8 if you want to host servers for your friends)
    Duel-core processor at 2.8ghz - 3.0ghz

I thought thats what I said an old PC with a basic 3D card. Like you maybe I should have expanded slightly.

I don't play Minecraft but the kids do, and they have machine with a 2Gz Core2Duo, 3GB ram and 7900GS seem to be happy with that running on 1920x1200.

You can pick up those machine for 100~200 on boards. They would run rings around that packard bell. That Packard Bell has a bad CPU and bad GFX card. its a 3D card in name only. it would play almost nothing.

    Agreed.

Above I was just stating that to get the best possible experience out of minecraft you will need a little bit better then a standard home PC, but for normal play its grand.

My laptop has a decent configuration and it manages to play minecraft well. Its 2 GB RAM, Nvidia Graphics card and dual core processor( not 3rd generation).

As I said, any standard pc these days will run vanilla minecraft without any trouble.

But if you want to to look like this instead of this you need something a little more powerful :p

    Exactly :p

it won't handle it that good, maybe 40fps but that CPU is very low and the PC itself is aimed at someone who does basic browsing and word processing. :)
