Hi, we are looking at maybe buying a 4200sqft property that has been completed to builders finish. Excluding the kitchen, and with good but not too of the range finish, how much do u think it would cost to finish, roughly? We have no idea whether we should be ben considering it. We were thinking of doing 3/4 of the house and then leaving the rest for later.... Do u think we could do it for 100k?

A bit ot, but have you considered what it will cost to heat this mansion in the future?

Have you you thought for the price of the building + 100K that you could get a highly energy efficient (all be it smaller) build

In my experience yes you should be able to finish the house easily for 100k if you are clever about how you spend your money. A lot will depend on the standard of finish you are trying to achieve.. and how smart you are when it comes to shopping around for materials. The finishing of a house can vary greatly depending on type of flooring, tiles, kitchen etc.

If this is a partially completed build make sure and check the insulation of the property as this may.. or may not have been completed. The largest costs will be the groundworks if they have not yet been completed (diggers are more expensive than you would think!) and the kitchen. Have the WC, showers etc been installed yet? has the joinery work been completed? Will you be doing some of the work yourself?
