When we light our fire our next door neighbours living room fills with smoke. What could be causing this, and how do they stop it? Its getting frustrating as we use the fire to heat the house.
They have gotten chimney balloons etc but the problem persists.

The wall between the 2 chimneys is broken.

Fix it or stop lighting fires. You could kill them.

Your chimney is cracked and needs relining, check out if your home insurance covers it.
DO NOT LIGHT YOUR FIRE TILL IT'S FIXED.
You are putting lives at high risk due to carbon monoxide from solid fuel fire.
    Belive me I know.

Obviously my PM on the death of my sister in similar circumstances had no affect on you. Hence no reply. I hope its due to attitude rather than health ! Your lack of reply.

I hoped to send this as a PM but if open to public so what.

Ok now I see pm didn't work as it should. Sorry to all who know my story.
I'm just trying to get the message out there on the dangerous systems out there.Ta

Think I have a similar problem. Any idea of the costs?

Check out your home insurance, you might be covered.
PLEASE READ ALL THE ABOVE POSTS .
    Smoke also means carbon monoxide.

Got a guy called the "Soot Doctor", he did a CCTV review of the chimney flue, no issues found. Then did a smoke test, he lit a smoke bomb and went into my neighbours and could see the smoke coming through. The problem was the small gap in the smoke chamber between my house and next door, apparently this is a common problem. To fix it the gap needs to be filled on both sides with some mortar and some fire foam. Great service and very cost effecient.
