    Hi,

I am upgrading my current tft. I plan on doing a mix of artwork in photoshop etc and casual gaming. I cant decide what will best suit me in the long run:

120/144hz - fluid in games and less eyestrain when not gaming.
    Iiyama Prolite G2773HS 144Hz 27"

    IPS - better colour reproduction.
    Asus SonicMaster MX279H 27"

Both of the above monitors are similar in price.
Can anyone share their recommendations and experiences?

As regards the 120/144hz this is only really useful if you have a build which can sustain 60+FPS in fast moving games such as shooters and racing.

I have an IPS panel, and i can work on it all day without eyestrain, big improvement over the tft i had previously.

That said, i have no experience with these specific mointors.

I have both a Dell ultrasharp ips monitor and an Asus 144hz monitor .

Overall i prefer the ips monitor . It does everything brilliantly including gaming . The only place you will notice the higher hz monitor being better is in fast paced games like Battlefield or COD . And even then your pc needs to be able to give you the FPS or its pointless . I have a GTX 690 and an overclocked ivybridge i7 in mine and it gives me over 100 fps in any game . With this the 144hz monotor is fantastic and somehow makes the game more lifelike and does actually improve my performance . But the colour the monitor displays is not great . Especially if the game is set in a dark enviroment . Its crap.

Overall unless you are gaming a lot and have a fairly well specced machine capable of 100+ fps get the IPS . You wont regret it the colours and clearness of the display is fantastic . Mine is a Dell U2412M and its lovely . There might be a newer version available now . Im not sure
