    Are they Tesco own brand?

The ones I bought were Tesco branded I'm presuming these are the same ones.

I seem to be changing bulbs all the time. Even the branded ones don't last for me.

Is insulation packed tight around them>?

They need space around them to dissipate heat.

I doubt there is any insulation around them. I rent the coldest house in the world. I'm sitting on my couch with the heating on and I've a blanket around me!!

Make sure you're not buying dichroic ones for enclosed fixtures, thy will overheat and can even be a fire hazard.
