Hi,

I and am new to all this and am wondering if anyone can recommend a good book to go through some basic design/decorating/room makeover stuff? Preferably Irish, but any good book suggestions would be welcome.

I have just bought my first home (a 3 bed Semi-D) that needs a bit of a fresh look, so am interested in what authors/designers people would recommend as as sort of users guide to this stuff?

Not a book and not Irish, but http://www.houzz.com/ should give you loads of ideas and inspiration.

I'd go for some interior design magazines rather than books. I buy Style at Home and Your Home magazines in the supermarket. They have some lovely ideas.

Terence Conrans 'The Essential House Book' is an oldie but is laid out really well for a non professional to do their own home - I've been designing for 27 years!!! & still enjoy the photos :-)
