3D image on Sky Channel 170

Just upgrade to SKY+ HD and I have a 3D TV.
I had to call Sky to have them enable channel 170.

Problem is when the 3D is enabled via the TV remote, it shows this channel as 2 identical images side-by-side - all other channels just show 1 image - as expected.

I've been through the settings on the TV and the SKY box but can't find how to change it.

    Any ideas please?

You need to change a setting on your TV. Somewhere in the menu there should be a setting called "Side by Side" or SBS; select that and the TV will merge the side-by-side panes into a 3D image. It'll look a little fuzzy without the glasses, pop them on and you're sorted.

There may also be an option to auto-detect 3D images, that may be disabled (or just not working, it's often not perfect).

Thanks - I thought that, but now I can't find that option on the TV.
I'll have another root around the menus.
    It's a Samsung TV

Is there not a 3D button on your remote down bottom right?

There is a 3D button, but when I press it, it no longer gives options to change the way the 3D image is displayed

The 3d button upscales your HD channels to 3d.

I'd be very surprised if it isn't there somewhere. Since the Samsung obviously isn't auto-detecting 3D content, there has to be an option to manually select it. The side-by-side format is one of the more commonly used. Pass on the model number if you have it, and I'll try to find it in an online manual.

In mine (Panasonic) you pressed 3D, then hit the red button to manually select the format (side by side, top & bottom, interlacing etc. )

I just did a quick search, and it seems others are having similar problems, sometimes when you tap 3D a dialog pops up allowing you to select the mode, other times it doesn't; haven't found an answer why.

    I figured this out.
If you select the TV source as BSkyB it will not allow you to select the different 3D modes.
If you select the TV source as HDMI it does.

Watched the Man Utd and Arsenal in 3D yesterday - fantastic picture
