Peugeot 206 - Loose gearbox

    Hi all,

I've read a few threads here and done a bit of Googling but just wanted to ask a question. I bought a 06 206 1.4 a few weeks ago and it's driving well although the gearstick seems to move around more than I would have thought is normal.

It changes gears fine but you can jiggle it and move it side to side and up and down quite a bit when it's in any gear as well as neutral. The main issue with this is that it vibrates quite a lot when going at speed (110+km/h), I can only stop it by holding onto it while driving.

I'm taking it back to where I bought it from to get them to look at it but was wondering if anyone had any feedback on what the problem could be and any suggestions or tips on what to look for.

    Thanks.

edit: could it be the linkage in the gearbox? Just hoping it's not something bad

Could be anything from worn gear linkages to and worn engine mount.
Peugeots tend to have loose gearboxes but if your worried about it then get it checked out..;)

See if it's rubbing off the exhaust in places

My 206 gearstick is loose enough, even when in gear, been in a few and they were the same, not sure about the vibration though?
