Skiing in mid December

Have been asked to go skiing in mid December and was thinking of going to St. Anton in Austria. My only concern going early in the season is the risk of the lack of snow. Am not familiar with French/Italian/Swiss resorts and was wondering if there are any that would be recommended for early in the season. Also a location that is within say 2 hours of an airport would be good too. Any opinions would be very welcome. Thanks.

Ishgl, St Anton will both be fine, Verbier, Chamonix and Flaine too.

When anyone asks about Mid December I give them this quote, "We can not in good conscience sell ski holidays for Christmas with our snow" - Tourist board of Kitzbul in the late 70's

The problem is predictability, worst case scenario, you go somewhere high and get a Glacier or a high resort with good snow making and well groomed runs.

Best case; Powder snow and deserted resorts!!! :):):)
