Picked up a couple of dim bulbs the other day at my local motor factors, cost me nearly €11 for the two, was I ripped off with the more expensive ones or is this the going rate?

Doesn't seem overly expensive to me, but it's hard to say without knowing what quality they are.

You wouldn't have to go looking to far to spend 20 quid on a single bulb.

then again you could get them for a euro each off ebay if you want to play chinese roulette.

Okay, just wondering because I have gotten brake lights etc. for 50c to €1 or sometimes even free, so thought maybe they had given me the super high end ones or something.

Presuming they are H7 halogen bulbs then €11 is about right for a pair of mid range examples. Bulbs are like tyres, cheap ones will be rubbish and not last very long while premium ones will offer better quality but will cost more. There is also no comparison between the cost of a dipped headlight bulb and a brake light bulb as they are different types, one is cheaper to produce than the other.

I'd be perfectly happy with 2 Hella bulbs for 11 euro.
