Back Tyre size for Ursus c385

The tyres on my Ursus (same as a Zetor Crystal) need to be replaced

    They are 13.6R 38 6

They seem to be a narrow wheel and some one told me they may have been used on a tillage farm in UK (it is an import)

I rang Hinchs in Tullamore and they said they had no second hand ones and a new one would cost €400 each.

Would it be possible to put a wider tyre (tyre which normally goes on the crystal) on the existing rim

What are my options I'm not going to pay €800 for 2 back tyres on a tractor which would be worth circ 2.5k ?

if you could get a pair of 34" rims then you could get any amount of 16.9x34 second hand. that's what we have on the 914.

with your own rims you can go an extra 3" wider tyre size. it's not recommended to have the tyre pulled in to the rim to much as the wall is sloped inwards and the strength to carry the weight is reduced.

how much would a pair of 34" rims cost?

jaysus, not got a clue. some lad up round kells breaks ag machinery, think he's called connaghty or something.

can't imagine they'd be too dear, maybe get them with tyres.

i'll make a few calls tomorrow.

Conaty is outside Kells alright, out the Oldcastle road on the left.

tyres have gone dear over the last few years.
912 i have has 18.4r38 on it which would be 1000 to 1500 a piece.
i would say 400 a piece is cheap for back tyres.
you will get a receipt and put them down for tax so in theory cost less then sell the old ones on donedeal for 50 a piece and the boys will fit them for you.
if you buy 2nd hand tyres for half price they will have 40-50% left max, could have damage on them, spend a day driving around looking at them, burn diesel picking them up. and pay someone to change them over or spend a day doing it yourself and you will end up with tyres with 25-30% wear left til you are in the same situation again.

all that said zetor/ursus are a heavy tractor and will travel the ground better on wider tyres.
two possible alternatives are search the silage pits for tyres or put an ad on donedeal

what part of 13.6 R 38 6 is the rim ie what is the size of the tyre in the existing wheel i have

Will a 34 inch wheel rim from a different tractor ie massey ferguson/ ford fit my ursus

13.6 is the width of your tyre
38 is the diameter of the rim.

so a 38" tyre fits a 34" rim, is this correct

no. the 38" is the diameter of the rim and also the diameter of the hole in the middle of tyre.

    a 34 rim would fall through a 38 tyre.

so the existing tyre 13.6R 38 6 will have a bigger diameter than a 16.9 34" rim- I am confused now. But the 16.9 34" will have a wider tyre?

Diameter of the tyre will be similar but the 16.9 is a wider tyre.

Diameter of the rim needed for a 38 is different to a 34.

Tyre sidewalls are different as well!

The four inches refers to the inner distance ie the width of the room.

Possibly not - you need to check the measurements between the wheel nuts on the diagonals.

my 1st comment on boards so please bear with me. I saw an 8145 lately with deutz dx wheels on it. Tyres have got very expensive. I spent 1250 yo yo on a pair of firestone 18.4 x34 radials for an 8145 in 08. couldn't get anything else in stock remotely locally or sh and new tyres on front year before and needed to keep ratio the same for the 4wd. A lot of crystals have gone home in the last 4 or 5 years with very few scrapped for the home market

bump would the rim of an international 885 fit a ursus c385

An 8145 Zetor is the same tractor as an Ursus 385 4 wheel drive so see my earlier comment. An international centre has smaller stud holes, shorter distance between studs so will not suit your tractor. International, David brown, Massey and John deere use the same dimension centres so are interchangeable. Ford and Leyland use a bigger distance [pcd ithink is the correct term for this measurement]; your ursus and a deutz use the same much bigger centres so unless you decide to get a local engineering firm to cut the middles out of your own wheels and graft them into the IH wheels , they wont fit . that could turn into a costly exercise. Personally I'd sooner spend what that would cost on new rubber for your own wheels. Also; how old are his tyres? I hope this helps you.

As said not a hope, you would be better off to just spend some more money on a decent set of second hand tyres.
