    Hi all,
Is mixamatosis dangerous to humans? As in, if I were to bag a bunny for the pot that didnt show any outward signs of mixamatosis, however was in the early stages of it, would it be dangerous to my health to eat him?

I have heard that it will do a human no harm to eat one that has/had it.

    I wouldn't though.

btw, you can always tell if a rabbit has had it and recovered from it, by examining the liver.

    no spots, no myxo ;)

Ive been told by a vet that its fine as long as you dont eat the meat off the head of the rabbit. I see it as a sin to waste good meat so I always make sure either myself or someone else will be eating the meat.

2nd that-always look at the liver. It's never been known to do harm to humans-but I'm no expert!

Nope it will do you no harm but you'd want to be awful stuck for protein lad.

Check eyes, genitals and liver for signs of mixo but don't get hung up on it too much or every bunny you pick up you'll convince yourself it has something.
