New Windows phones

I have a Nokia Lumia 800 and my contract is up this month. I was wondering if anyone can tell me if they have fixed some of the annoying problems with the newer phones-

Have they fixed the predictive text? I have to keep re typing my daughters name even though older phones remembered words that were typed regularly

Has the sleep function been fixed? The lumia 800 only does ten mins or 3 mins.

Is the Microsoft office any easier to use. The lumia had office but it was a waste of time, being too fiddly to use

Is it worth persevering with a windows phone or go to android. I have an unfortunate mental block against Apple.

I have a 520 and none of the issues you were having.

When you have typed your daughters name in a text or whatever, tap to highlight the name again (it will have a wavy red line under it) and you will see "+name" - tap it and this adds the name to the dictionary for future use.

My Lumia 920 has 30 seconds, 1 minute, 3, 5, 15, 30 and never as options in the lock screen timeout

I've only really used Office for viewing and simple editing of some Word and Excel files, no problems so far. You might find it easier on a higher res and larger screen than the Lumia 800

If you have not spent much on WP apps then moving to Android wouldn't be too much of a problem. But there are other considerations, like do you use Gmail a lot? Then you'll prefer Android. Do you tend to install hundreds of the latest apps? Again, Android is usually first with apps. On the other hand I've really come to rely on Skydrive and the auto-uploading of photos so I would be very reluctant to move to Android as the Skydrive integration there isn't as good. I use Outlook, Skydrive, Windows 8.1 etc so having a Windows Phone works better for me. And it just works - my Nexus 7 drives me crazy with the amount of app updating and maintenance required.
