Just thought I'd start a thread where people can compare scores

    I have a 7950 vapor x and a Club 3D 7870 XT in crossfire

I'm getting 880 on a single R9 280x, with all settings set to their maximum.

That's odd the image is still showing for me.
    fps 59.5
    Score 2489
    Main fps 20.2
    Max fps 105.1

    Is your card overclocked?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46 markbreen17

sorry yeah, it's working now. No it's not, I will give the Valley benchmark a run and see what kind of score I get in that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46 markbreen17

Ok these are my valley benchmarks.
    fps 43.0
    Score 1798
    Min fps 18.1
    Max fps 84.9
Everything at stock clock. Not bad for a single card

Nice, I've only just realised that while setting up crossfire I've somehow lost the overclock on my CPU. Overclocked it and did the benchmark again for a slight performance increase

Valley isn't reporting my processor speed correctly for some reason. I have it overclocked to 4.5ghz. I'm not sure if it's running at that speed for the test. It should be.

    Card (7970) is at 1150/1600.

Heaven, again stock settings on cpu/gpu

    A quick run.
    4670k @ 4.6ghz
    7970 @ 1300/1800

    Sorry for the large pic.

I'm not quite sure how you are getting such higher results than me game4it. Yes your card is running a little faster and yes your processor is a little faster but that shouldn't account for a 700 point difference. That's a massive 40% when really it should only be about 10%. What drivers are you using?

Nice overclock on the card by the way. Do you have it water cooled or was that a 100% fan speed run just for benchmarking?

I think it is more to do with something on your end Bloodbath, here is my 7970 at stock (925/1375) and the same core clock as yours (1150/1375)
    279563.PNG

My stock settings register a higher score than your higher clocked ones.

Valley with cpu and gpu overclocking.

    FPS: 88.1
    Score: 3685

    i7-3770k @ 4.4 GHz
    EVGA gtx 670 FTW , o/c to 1185 MHz / 1702 MHz
    Zotac gtx 670, o/c to 1113 MHz / 1627 Mhz

Edit: those GPU clocks are the boost clocks shown in GPU-Z. There's an additional 70 MHz or so of boost that kicks in under load

Haven't tried overclocking the system memory, I don't expect it would have much impact.

Thanks. It was my CCC settings that were killing it. I changed them and got 2074.

Valley doesnt seem to be reporting my correct CPUspeed either. I'm sure it is oc'ed to 4.7GHz at the moment.
GPUs @stock, no OC. Will do another later with some overclocking.

    That's sick for that resolution.

They have quite a large table of results at overclock.net in this thread:

    http://www.overclock.net/t/1360884/official-top-30-unigine-valley-benchmark-1-0

The table is near the top of the first post. Formatting is a little funky, but if you use the scroll bar and go all the way to the right you can click on "sort by gpu type". It's a good way to check if you've got your machine dialed in reasonably well, since you can compare against people with the same cpu/gpu.

Edit: despite the name of the thread, it's not just the top 30. You can scroll down in the table with your mouse wheel.

I will run it at stock with Cpu and Gpu (925/1375) so you can compare to a stock run of your setup. That will rule out the OC maybe?

    I'm using these drivers
    13.11 Beta9.2
    http://www2.ati.com/drivers/beta/amd_catalyst_13.11_betav9.2.exe

Yes i am water cooled so heat is not an issue.

Ah i just saw your post now about you CCC settings. What ones where causing the issue?
    For reference i got 1687 @ stock.

Here's mine. HD7850's in crossfire stock. same as someone above, lost my OC when I crossfired and didn't get around o putting it back on. CPU is 3570k @ 4.5GHz.

Out of interest, what settings were causing lower scores?

Went back and overclocked my GPUs to run this bench again. In 1080p, it didnt seem to make any difference at all but 2560x1600 saw a good improvement which is shown below.
+140MHz on the GPU clocks and +250MHz on the memory. +150 on the GPU causes Valley to crash.

I had AA as enhanced to run super sampling. I had 16 AF forced on as well with max quality textures.

This made the benchmark look a lot better but was costing me a fair bit of performance and score.

So I bumped the core up to 1050mhz on both cards and reran both benchs, nice little improvement bringing results more in line with some more expensive set ups. Can't get passed 1050mhz with the sapphire card though, used to be able to do it, messed around for an hour or so with GPU Tweak and Afterburner settings but no luck so far.

11.5% performance increase in Valley and a 12.5% increase on Heaven. Temps maxing out at 68°C on the Sapphire and 62°C on the HIS.

My final cut at tuning the overclocks. This turned out to be a good exercise for understanding how to tune my gpus. I didn't realize until now that in SLI, the slowest card sets the pace. So no point in ramping up the faster card if the slower one can't match it. Unfortunately my second card craps out almost 100 Mhz below the first one. Live and learn.

    i7-3770k @ 4.4 GHz
    2-way GTX 670 SLI with gpu @1200 MHZ, memory @ 3500 MHz.

    FPS: 91.7
    Score: 3839
