    Hey

Does anyone or has anyone ever wen to Scotland to do any boarding?? Can't believe I've never made the short trip across the pond to check it out before but have been thinking of it more and more as a cheap alternative to heading to Europe for weekend trip, might even be able to fit a couple of trips in if its cheap enough! They have been getting some good snow the last few years and one chap i spoke to said they were able to board nearly up until April this year!

Basically has anyone any info on:

Where to fly into, what resorts are best, accommodation/ski pass prices, total cost est etc?

    cheers

It's not cheaper! Scotland is great if you live in Scotland. But if you're going from Ireland - it's as much (or less) hassle and expense to go to Europe, for a much better experience. I wouldn't recommend it at all

Yeah I looked into it last year as really wanted to go on a slightly more environmentally friendly trip and one I thought would be close by, plus I was reading about good conditions long after europe's season had ended, but on researching it it's an awful long drive from the Ferry

The ski areas are an awful long drive from the airports too. (Although very scenic)

Yeah, its a long drive, the resorts are quite small, accommodation is not cheap and well the skiing is hit and miss. I have skied there in epic conditions and it was an incredible weekend.

But the normal is skiing heather and rocks in Sheet rain and a gale blowing in your face! Unless you are swinging by or close to it or really want to experiences something different well off you go.

To be honest you could probably work a weekend in Europe cheaper and get more skiing in, than if you went to Scotland.

Cheers folks... I'll stick to Eastern Europe so! Done Paddy's weekend this year 4 nights, 3 days boarding, flights, accommmo, spends all in less the 600 quid! Plus we hired gear for the trip too!

My brother was skiing the last remnants of snow on north-facing slopes in the Cairngorms in June this year!

Last year was a freak year at Caringorn, 2 of the areas in Scotland were closed by the end of Feb last year and 2 more by the end of March.

This video will give you a good idea of what to expect in Scotland Just look at the flag in the backround during the interview! :)

When its good its incredible but all to often its not:mad: and Euro for Euro you probably get better value and more skiing for a weekend in Europe.
