    Did anyone else receive a text about ITC payment tax refund and a link to www.itcpayment.ws?

    My mam did but we haven't a clue what is for!

    That's kind of what I thought when there was no mention of revenue in the link.

    I had sent an email to revenue asking about the legitimacy of it but their automated reply said it could take 30 days to reply. It's why I asked you good people.

    Thanks!

    Hi All,

    Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I'm sure the mods will move it to a more suitable forum if it isn't.

    I received a text today with the text;

    'You are now ready to receive your FlexTex Irish Tax Refund Payment.
    Visit www.itcexpress.net and enter your specially assigned ITC key:2619 to be eligible.'

    The site is designed to look like a Revenue website with a similar look to www.revenue.ie

    This seems to be a phishing scam, I didn’t enter the code or follow through the process but I imagine that eventually I would be asked for bank details.

    Lads a bit if help with this a.s.a.p would be appreciated.

    My little brother fell for this one as he was a bit panicked about his tax return.

    I've told him to ring the revenue and his bank. Is there anything else he needs to watch out for? How do they use his info to target him with things like this?

    He says the just asked for his account number and sort code. I don't see what they could get out of him with that but I'd like him to be safe not sorry.

    Any help appreciated

    They just spam everyone at this time of year, since the deadline for returns was a few weeks ago and everyone panics. With a 0.001% success rate they will always get a few.

    I already stated my Bro did this. I'm asking what they are likely to try and extract from him. Hes rang the revenue and his bank. Does he need to do more?

    No, but keep a close eye on accounts for strange transactions. This should be done all the time anyway tho...
