Unless the tribunal is bilingual, his rights as an Irish speaker will be infringed, it is claimed. He alleges he will be disadvantaged if an interpreter is necessary to translate the evidence and submissions given on his behalf in Irish. Translator evidence is not similar to direct evidence and he would be marginalised, he claimed.

f*cking loop holes, years ago the same was used by another big FF'er up here to get out of a Drink Driving charge. refused to answer/do anything untill a translator was found and by that time they had sobered up enough to pass the test.

Guess judging by his "English" website he doesn't give a damn about the rights of his own Irish speaking constituents.

One line of Irish on the whole thing and nowhere to choose your language.

    For Shame.

Cant see the courts falling for this shít, he has no legal right to insist the commission members are bi-lingual only that the proceedings are held in Irish. Hopefully he will lose and face a massive legal bill!

Good.it's great to have a reminder of what ff are really like.I will never, ever forgive them for what they done to this country and I'll never forget.no amount of spin doctor revision of history will change my mind.the day they're voted in again is the day I emigrate once again.Michael Martin is a weasel and I'm ashamed to call him a fellow cork man.

Are people actually surprised that this sort of thing happens?, you do understand these are important, busy people who could do without the hassle of following the law of the land.

Remember this is the genius who stated that allowing abortions in cases of fatal foetal abnormalities would deprive us of future Special Olympians!
Class guy, wow how I love the New FF:D:D

If there is no legal reason for Judges, Solictors/Barristers and Jurors to be bi-lingual then I think it is a bit of a stretch to claim that commission members need to be.

If there was nothing to hide there would be no reason to pull this stunt.

No, this guy isn't corrupt, sly or sneaky enough to hold that prestigious position.

And yet another Senator who thinks he's there to represent a geographical region. If only there was some method by which we could abolish the Seanad...

This smacks of the senator in question using the worst of the tactics used by the 'Freeman' movement tbh

Wondering did he make his "double" " travel and subsistence claims" to the County Council in Irish. Maybe he was having a "Groundhog Day" and made his claims twice.
