AFIK Corktina, the Zodiac Mk IV to Granada was seamless.
The Consul/Granada replaced both the UK Zodiac MkIV and the German Taunus 17 - 26M.
AFIK There was no stop-gap in the UK., MAYBE Ford brought in a few to test the market like my Aussie LTD, tho I see the 'Ford Werke Koln', not 'Ford South Africa' on the chassis plate :confused:

HOWEVER, a RHD Taunus 20M WAS produced in South Africa

I actually owned a UK-spec Aussie Ford LTD - WZY 649 , the UK spec consisted of Capri rear lights in a plastic housing replacing the big Aussie units - which didn't have rear fog lights in them :(

Bet you never owned one of these http://www.aus-ford-uk.co.uk/html/td_cortina.html

I bow to your superior knowledge about that particular one :o

Not doubting you but just wondering about Ford's thinking, testing the market or just a limited run to get rid of unsold Taunus's

My dad had a RHD Ford Taunus 20M TS new in '66 but, to confuse things, it was supplied to him in Germany by the (british-based) NAAFI, as he was serving there with the RAF at the time.
It had three different reg's over the years - a NATO Service Staff one, a Northern Irish one (AIA nnnn) and then a Dublin one (nnnn ZH), but sadly, it only survived until the late seventies.

Back on-topic: I can't see any original Irish cars going into that auction, it looks as if they are all just going home...
