I am going to take a few half days in 2014 and play 5 other courses apart from my club Roganstown. I have already played the heritage and seapoint, Ardee and New Ross. Some place a high handicapper would enjoy but not get 20 pts! Suggestions please on the east coast?

Killeen Castle is a must. A cheap top links, probably Portmarnock.

Baltray, The Island, Euro club all expensive, but great courses. Rossslare is a great cheaper option, and a proper old school links.

Mount Julliet,, Headfort New, Macreddin, Druids Glen, all as good as you could want.

Luttrellstown for the close one to Roganstown, Killeen Castle is only around 35 mins away. Same for Portmarnock.

Enniscorthy, Bunclody, Coollattin and Courtown could not be overlooked either. All priced sensibly.

The finish in Bunclody is just amazing, definitely not to be overlooked.

Headfort new in Kells and Concra Woods in Monaghan should be high on your list to play

At the golf show last night Arklow was promoting their 3 course package - Arklow, Woodenbridge and Coolattin. A good deal and if you add Bunclody and another nearby like Mount Wolsely you have a cracking week of varied, good quality courses within easy reach of each other.ie

Great value in Macreddin too, think you can get golf & a buggy for about €30-35 at the moment.

Its a cracking course at that price

Down the east coast I'd do

    Druids Glen
    The European
    Arklow
    Woodenbridge
    Bunclody

Thanks for the replies, I played some of these, threw up a post without thinking!

    I would go for

    Killeen Castle
    Concra Woods
    Woodenbridge (Again)
    Mount Wolsely
    Druids Glen

Woodenbridge, Ardee - Played both a few months back, lovely placeS and I will be back

Esker Hills - Didn't like the Hills!

Headfort new - Bad dose of the Slices that day I played it, wouldn't be back but I did like the OLD course!

Luttrellstown - Played it and I liked it.

Nice course but only playable with a buggy. I'd get there soon. Hard to see it surviving.

Corrstown, just up the road from Roganstown. Was up there last week practising a few bunker shots on one hole (nobody in front or behind me for 3 holes, quiet weekday, repairing pitch marks, raking bunker after etc) when sum oul busy body marched about 300 yards across the course, told me not to do that, demanded to know if or where I was a member nd that I should go back to my own club.
When I stopped laughing he had wandered back to his group so if your looking for a course with knobhead members who treat guest like juveniles playing off 28 (I play off 3 nd am in my late 20's) this is the course for you mate.
