2000 audi a3 - Doesn't start, FUSE on dashboard

Hi Got a call earlier from my partner. She had left her car with her sister while away, and when she tried to start the car there was no response, except FUSE came up on the dashboard. They had tried to jump start, but that didn't work. She said the headlights work. Any hints on (remote!) diagnostics or what the problem…

They had tried to jump start, but that didn't work. She said the headlights work. Any hints on (remote!) diagnostics or what the problem may be?

Well, "FUSE" usually means...

...fuse indeed!

So, first step would be to check all fuses in the car. Owner's manual will help with search.

Mea culpa - should (of course) have mentioned fuses in main fuse panel checked. Also battery fuses are ok. I'll go over later to check things out.

possibility the clocks of that car are linked into the immobiliser system.

they may need to be matched / coded again to the car
