Does anyone know if this is happening for new years eve 2014??

Taken from a website....PLANS for a large-scale event on New Year’s Eve in Limerick which could draw up to 20,000 people onto the streets have been lodged with Limerick City Council.

The event, which is set to kick off Limerick’s stint as national City of Culture in 2014, will feature a concert at Merchant’s Quay, a procession of people through the streets of the city and a massive fireworks display, if a licence is granted by the planning department in City Hall.

Specific details remained scarce at the time of going to press but the event organisers, Davis Events, are understood to have been involved in last year’s New Year’s Gathering event in Dublin and are expected to follow a similar model in Limerick.

It is understood also that RTE will broadcast the festivities live in tandem with those taking place in Dublin, to mark the opening of City of Culture.

I would love to go to a fire works display and then bring in the New year with a few drinks back at a reasonably cheap hotel or b&b for the one night, something different and exciting :) i'm fed up of nothing much happening, usually stay at home with some friends which is grand but i want more just this once :D
