323F leaking water into the cab

I have a 2002 323F 2.0 Sport. It's off the road as if has been for a very long time. Every time it rains, water leaks onto the passenger floor soaking the carpet.

So far I have removed the passenger seat, lifted the carpet, removed the wipers and grill. I note that when I pour water on the windscreen, if floods into the area under the windscreen and floods onto the ground through whatever drains exist- I can't see or feel any drain holes in the recess bowl under the windscreen. HOWEVER, not all of the water floods out. The collection bowl area seems to always stay about a half inch submerged in water:confused:

What I noticed about the water inside the car is that it appears to be getting into the ventilation system. Unless I'm mistaken, the water seems to slowly seep out of where (what I think might be) the ventilation fan bolts up from underneath and into the vent system behind the glove box. It got too dark to remove the 'fan' today.

Any idea of how I might resolve this? Forums and Google have failed me so far:/ If you are prepare to educate me as to how ventilation systems are plumbed, I'd appreciate it...

Ya, I actually posted in that thread and it seems the OP's solution was to park it on a slope :D

My sunroof is fine, I've found water in my ventilation system just like in that thread but it seems to not have been resolved. I'm going to try and sort it out if I can.

    Got it :D

The white oval in the photo shows the cabin air intake compartment. The arrow point to a hole in the top of this compartment for a clip. The clip slides onto the underneath of the black plastic windscreen drain cover thingie and snaps it down onto the top of the compartment as well as the other clip holders across the bottom of the windscreen.

You can see a pair if white clips in the photo. The clip on the left of the pic was intact and complete with a black soft foam seal on it's underside, which is then supposed to seal against the top of the metal metal compartment.

In my case, two things had happened. The white clip, shown on the right, had first of all snapped off. In hindsight, I know that there were other broken clips on the drain cover, including this one, and the black seal was missing. All probably due to a careless windscreen fitter.

After applying the smallest dribble of water to the hole, water quickly starts dribbling out of the underside of my ventilation pipes and down onto the mat. I had always had rubber mat on that side which always showed evidence of water falling from above.

After exchanging the clip with another for this critical location and refitting the drain cover, all the hosing in the world could get water to drip into the car. I'm going to apply a small bead of silicone around the clip hole to diver rain water around the hole and I'm 99% certain I have it sorted now :)
