Seen a lovely site with a dormer bungalow on it, actually like the exterior of the house aswell but hate the layout of the inside. Have been thinking of buying it and changing the interior of the house to my liking but would want to know would the foundations need to be changed seeing as I'll be taking out 2 structural walls. These walls would be running in the middle of the house and would be used as for a hall.

The foundations would be made of a concrete raft And im near sure there would be reinforced steel under each wall or just thicker concrete.

What im wanting to know is, is it possible to change the layout iof this interior without. Having to dig into the raft.

I understand that structural work questions is against the rules here but im not asking for advice on work needing done, more just is it possible on being done.

its not just whats under the floor that you need to look at. the original wall design would have being designed to carry any floors above and the roof of the house. you will need to still carry these and therefore you may need to install a steel frame element to carry the original roof/floors. To be fair there is little that cant be done to any property but the costs are generally the problem.

you really need an engineer to have a look so the overall structural impact of the change can be assessed

Yes i understand this about hiring an engineer, i would never consider buying a house with the possibility of this work without hiring one.

Im near sure i seen a thread on the internet somewhere and some one mentioned that theres this type of stuff that can be injected into the ground under foundations and it expands. You drill a certain size holes down x amount of ft/meters, inject this stuff and its just as strong or stronger than concrete. Its in liquid form and also expands. Near sure its also water proof but not 100% sure. I dont know if it was on an american forum or europe but i did read it somewhere. One thing i do know, it was really expensive. Just wondering has anyone heard of it here on this island.
