Egging politicians to get the point across

I hear a lot of talk of protests and indeed protests themselves these days. Problems with these are that they break down or don't achieve their goal. The smug gits in power go on as if there is nobody at the gates of Leinster house roaring for change.

Is it time to just egg them a la the stuff that caused Mary harney to resign. It seems to be the only thing that gets the point across that people are fed up.

It may achieve not much but does at least make them understand that they have fukcd up. Simple protests like this I feel have their place.

Eggcellent idea, eggactly what I was thinking.

I don't always agree with Politicians but egging them isn't the answer.

A conviction for assault won't do you any favours.

By all means egg them, but with bricks.

Then I hope you don't mind others throwing eggs at you when they don't agree with you?

Not exactly the same thing, when the politicians in this country, Bertie, Charlie Haughey, a whole rake of other crooks...

Considering what they've done to the country, eggs should be the least of their worries. I don't think eggs are a good way of getting a message across mind you, but they should be in jail.

Only if politicians are allowed to reply with a right hook to the assailant's jaw!

Maybe it's time to pack up the "elect a bunch of lads who do whatever they feel like doing for 5 years" system and move to something more direct.
In before "mob rule" and similar cries from people too fixed in their ways to try anything different no matter how bad the current system is

Egging lads wastes eggs. So don't do it...

    Or something...

    :D

So you think people should be assaulted because you feel they are not doing their job to your liking?

    Psychotic despot?

    I just confuse politician's I dislike.

    I give them high fives.

    In the face.

    With a chair or something.

On the same note a politician in Sweden got a cake thrown in his face yesterday during a book signing.
It's kinda funny except that he's been under various threats for some time and feared the worst.
His security detail whisked him away swiftly though. No harm done.

There's been a few "cakings" of politicians there but also brutal murders of ministers.
You just never know when a nutjob is gonna come up to you and do something.

I think where a huge majority think this (and they are not listened to within the 5 years between elections), then yes.

An egg does not equal an assault by the way.Its a very simple "people are fed up with you and you deserve punishment for ignoring them" message

I remember seeing Jimmie Åkesson in gamla stan 2 years ago,he was there for the opening of the parliament that goes from storkyrkan to riksdagen.Didn't know who he was, presumed he was the Crown Prince or something because of all of the security around himself and his wife(who were dressed in traditional clothes). He said hej, seemed like a nice bloke-even to the point where I might use his party symbol as an avatar, but alas:p

Can I throw eggs at your face so? Sure its only an egg.
Can I , as a man, wind my arm up and throw an egg as hard as I like at a female politician?

It says we are trapped in a System where someone thinks they can do what they like for 5 years. Trust me ill vote against them. The problem is that they will make me and you suffer consequence free in the meantime. Even after, they get those bloody huge pensions.

    No, it's idiotic.

Im sorry but no. One needs to show those in power that we dont live in a dictatorship. The only example of success ive seen is the egging of Harney

Kenny deserves it; At least Harney answered to the people where questions were asked instead of avoiding the media

I would egg every politician that voted against the bill to legalise cannabis!
Thats 111 eggs I would need!
Anyone know where I can get the nearly 10 dozen eggs I require for this eggcellent idea!

To be honest, I am not suffering that much. I personally think they are doing a good job and things are getting better. It's going to be slow but we are getting there. I certainly don't see what good assaulting them will do. Do you think it will make them work harder? What if one gets egged and nothing happens do you think this will make others want to go into politics? Should i come to your place of work and fire eggs at you because I think you are not doing a good job?

Yeh we don't live in a dictatorship - you're having a laugh if you believe there's anything dictatorship-like about Ireland. It's not going to "show" them anything - it's just going to make them think "pricks" and cause further division.
The only example of success ive seen is the egging of Harney
    Success how?
    Kenny deserves it
    Yeh he's a true monster.

Bertie and Haughey deserved a slap of an egg all right in fairness but people just tell themselves Kenny is a true abomination because it's the populist thing to think.

Success was the resignation of Harney who imo took the hint rather than knock on doors looking for another vote.

As for the populist thing to think.... Is that not in essence what democracy is supposed to be... What the majority want? The reason Kenny deserves it is the fact that he refuses to debate issues. Hes the leader for Christ sake. Not being answerable stinks of a dictatorship. Just because he doesn't nuke jews it doesn't mean he isn't behaving like he has full power.

So if my boss makes me redundant, can I egg him?

What about the boss of the local shop or garage that puts their proces up?

If you want you can change job or place to shop. The shop will not last five years if majority don't shop there hence no need for eggs. You are stuck with the gov five years min hence need for eggs.

Bless all with their peaceful vote them out every five years suggestions but to be frank they ain't working. A lot happens in five years. If you don't do what you should go between you deserve to at the least be reminded that you are doing a bad job

If they were doing such a terrible job then they wouldn't last 5 years. There would be mass protests and the opposition would jump on this and their all ready to propose votes of no confidence In the government. Just because they are voted in for a 5 year term does not mean they last 5 years.

This would be true were it not for their sizeable majority. Barring a Labour pullout, this can't happen.

But the majority of citizens seem to be happy enough as i don't see mass demonstrations being held countrywide.

By not debating, talking to the media etc, how can the leader gauge the mood of the nation? The demonstrations dont get publicity as they are not responded to. Pensioners, students, teachers, CIE staff, doctors, nurses and others have all been protesting in some form the past year.

That makes up a sizeable enough chunk that the leader should be answerable to a few queries. I think the Leopard will not change his stripes, hence need for eggs. Its not a solution as such, more a bit of taking revenge back for the people.

He is answerable to the people it is up to the peoples public representatives to ask the questions in the dail. People don't go to their public representatives and therefpre the questions don't get asked. Again should i be allowed to assault you because i feel you are doing a ****ty job?

The type of person who eggs a politician is the same type of person who thinks its acceptable to march in and interrupt a public representative as they're having a pub lunch, blustering and braying at them about how they want everything and have to pay for nothing.

These ne'er do wells are a boil on the inflamed scrotum of Ireland. The type of people who wear tracksuits to a restaurant.

Fcukin right it is assault. What else do you think it is?

There's a court case going on at the moment where a woman lost an eye due to an egg being thrown at her.

An egg does not equal an assault by the way.

2.—(1) A person shall be guilty of the offence of assault who, without lawful excuse, intentionally or recklessly—
    (a) directly or indirectly applies force to or causes an impact on the body of another, [...] without the consent of the other.

    http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/1997/en/act/pub/0026/print.html#sec2

If you're going to assault someone at least have the balls to admit it instead of hiding behind half-cooked principles .
