Saw a lovely 535d in the apartment block carpark the other evening. Took a closer look as it was looking good...insurance out since June according to disc.

I know this has come up before...but I am curious that someone would get such a high performance car and then feel ok not to insure it. I mean if you cant afford the insurance you certainly shouldn't be able to keep the car in the perfect condition I saw it in..I mean that car is..DAMN!

They probably just forgot to put up their new disc.

I don't have any insurance cert on my car for years.
I am insured to drive anything from a mini to a Ferrari and my little disc is in my wallet as im always swapping cars, maybe the guy is the same ?

My car currently has no disc but it is insured and I have documents to prove such in the car when I'm driving. No disc doesn't necessarily mean no insurance.

I am aware that no disc is itself an offence but not as serious as no insurance

Your logic is faulty - no disc does not equal no insurance.

Maybe its SORN. Sounds like the "closer look" was specifically just to see if they had it insured..........

Is this the 'jump to unwarranted conclusions' thread or what?

No its called an opinion, something warranted for a discussion

Aye you're right of course, not having an insurance disc displayed also means the owner likes to drown baby seals.

My dad can own a car and I can drive it on my insurance policy without the car needing to be insured.

I'm not sure about that, most policies state for driving other cars, that car must be insured on its own policy

No my latest policy says the same, having previously said what you describe. Very handy!

Probably a couple of 100000 miles longer than the injectors would last on washed diesel....modern farm machinery has sensitive engines as well.
