How much do the mart charge per a head? What way is the pricing structure, is it the seller gets charged or the buyer? I'm relatively new to farming and NEVER go to the mart only for checking the going price :D

Both have to pay commision at different rates I think. Works out about a tenner a head in Clare marts for a weanling.

I deal in two marts around here for buying and both charge 9 per head to buy. only sell in one and their commission is 1.25% of sale price on sheep, not sure of cattle could be the same

When you say 9 per a head do you mean that is how much you were charged and then seller is charge something else or that €9 is the total the mart charged from the whole transaction?

Marts are making €25 average on every animal that sells through the ring. If you look in the ifj tomorrow you will get details on commissions of different marts featured in mart watch section near the back.

Is it where I'm thinking of?
