Tablet around €150

Yet another what tablet thread...I've spent the past week or so reading and searching and confusing myself with all the options.

I'm actually in the market for two, one for me, and one for my mother. I had ordered the Nexus 7 on ibood but ended up cancelling both.

Was going to get the Asus MeMo at the Curry's offer price but I can't find them in stock anywhere in the greater Dublin area.

Was considering the GoTab 10 for my mother, she's new to tablets and doesn't have a smartphone so I don't think she'll have the comparison issues that people have posted about. Any thoughts on that one?

Might splash out and get the Nexus 7 on Expansys for myself, it's in or around the ibood price but only 16gb, I'm kinda regretting cancelling the order for mine, refurbished wouldn't have mattered to me.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Interest in the Tesco Hudl? http://www.tesco.com/direct/hudl/

Very good spec for it's price, lovely screen, different colour options - perfect for your needs.

I'd definitely be interested in a bit of a review. What way did you buy it?

Find a website that delivers to the UK, use the parcel motel. Whats the problem?

That review says camera and battery life are crap though? My mum would use it for Skype so camera does kinda matter

Just wondering if anybody any thoughts on this:

    http://www.pcworld.ie/Product/ASUS-MeMO-Pad-HD-7andrdquo-Tablet-16-GB-Blue/315765/2.9

We could actually pick it up cheaper in the US, so the price is not an issue. I just know nothing about Asus devices, and am wondering if they are any good.

Looking at this myself, seems to be slightly better than last years nexus 7 from what i can see.

I have the TF300 which is Asus and no complaints

We have 2 tablets in the house. One is the nexus 7 which we bought last year and the other was a sub €100 tablet fir the young lad.

The nexus is used every day and is still fast but the cheap tablet gathers dust. It is too slow going through the screens.

Pay for the nexus 7 and forget about the budget tablets as they are a waste of time .

The RAM on them is too low to make them useful. Original nexus has 1gb ram and apps like Facebook eat ram. It is currently sitting at 700mb of ram in use with 2 users and their apps . The budget tablets have usually 500mb ram and it is simply not up to the task. They creep once you load comman apps. Even chrome takes up a lot of ram.

The nexus gets android without the branded rubbish which can also eat your ram. The nexus will always get android updates but the branded stuff will depend on the supplier (Samsung etc) and rarely get updates.

Buy the nexus. Old one has 1gb ram and no rear camera so should be priced accordingly . New one has 2gb ram plus camera on rear.

ASUS FONEPAD from laptops direct, use the Which Voucher for £15 off

I don't use a phone much and get broadband from three.ie, it's a 7 inch android phone with a 3 day battery, GPS is brilliant and wifi sharing signal is strong. The intel chip handles most functional tasks.

This is the first tablet that hasn't annoyed me. I've returned or sold 3 previous after 1 week.
This one meets all my needs and I hardly bring a laptop anywhere now.

That's the one I wanted to buy but am having trouble finding stock and it's not orderable for home delivery. The Currys/PC World price is miles better than elsewhere

The Google Nexus 7 is made by Asus and having used it for over a year I can endorse anything by Asus. The spec of the MeMO Pad is even better than the original Nexus 7 and at the pricec quoted looks like a very good deal.

Say nothing, Currys online have the blue and white MeMo back in stock. One ordered for my Mum...debating what to do for myself, might hang on until the sales after Christmas.
