Crown in <snip>, Grafton St Dublin

    Hi,

    From a routine checkup, they found out that my 10-year-old crown is infected and that a new root canal has to be done. This was the beginning but when they did the X-ray on it, they told me that I have to do the whole crown again because they can't do the root canal through a hole cuz I have a metal composite post inside my crown that goes inside halfway through the root.

    Now this came back as a complete shock cuz my porcelain crown cost me almost 1500 EUROS ten years ago and it has served me very well.

    I go to <snip> in South Anne St in Dublin city centre and i will probably go to a different dentist to get a second opinion on this. Has anybody done a crown in Smiles Dental and were they any good?

    Also, the quote for the crown and the root canal came up as 800 EURO - is this a reasonable price?

    I'm thinking of going to SCR dental for a second opinion - has anybody done a crown there?

    Crown removal, post removal and retreatment root canal. Personally I would attend a endodontist (root canal specialist) for that.
