    Maybe because people would wonder why a guy from an underwater city didnt jump into the water to save himself.

    Anyway episode 1 is very much a kids movie, so it was probably deemed too harsh to kill the main kid-centric character in such a horrific way.

    It looks bad too that two Jedi just bailed & left him there to die {not that I don't agree with them doing so :p}

    Yeah, could they not have used the Force to lift the ship from the water?

    What also springs to mind is Qui Gon Jin is starting to resemble batman with all his gadgets. Under-water breathing apparatus, grappling hook, device for checking peoples blood, etc. Back in my day all a jedi needed was a light saber, a knowledge of the Force and wits.

    Sadly it's not true, it's an edited version of a deleted scene.
    Jar Jar jumps from the craft and swims to shore...I know, I know, just spoiled everyone's dreams for which I truly apologize.

    Blasphemy perhaps, but, she wasn't that hot.

    I suspected it was too good to be true.

    Anyway, who would support Chancellor Palpatine's request for emergency powers if he had died?

    Yoda is the enlightened one, a kiss would only draw him to the dark side :-D
