A lad up the country was telling me he signed up for an organic scheme, that he was tied in for a few years, that he got a large payment each year plus something like 40% off one new piece of machiney each year. Anyone know the details of this scheme? Amount of land, stock etc?

Contact IOFGA or Organic Trust and they'll send you all the details re the OFS.

There is a 40% grant for capital outlay, buildings and machinery, but don't it will cover a 130HP John Deere!! It's meant for machinery and equipment for use on the farm, mowers, turners, creep feeders etc.....

Pretty poor debate TBH, the organic side did their best to dodge the primary question (nutritional value) and waffle on about other things.
Many of them made daft claims about the science being inconclusive (it's not, it just doesn't agree with your business model) or that old fallacy, "I'm not a scientist but..."

The reality is that organic is a marketing label. It's a meaningless term that is used to provide some sort of differentiation to identical products. For the most part supporters of organic food fall into two categories, those who fervently believe it's better for you, regardless of the evidence, and those who use it to sell at a greater margin.

The former are much the same as the anti-vaccination crowd while the latter are similar to the vitamin pill sellers.
