    Why is it that the Irish like to protest so much about student fees? They're only €2,500 going on €3,000 for .... sake.

    Look at the UK, they are much higher, look at the USA, you'd almost have a bank loan just to do medicine, there are very few public, government-funded institutions there, and you don't see much protesting in either jurisdictions.

    Is it that the Irish just want something for nothing?

    I think a basic secondary education is a human right, but third level is definitely a privilege.
