Hi, my daughter has an 03 Corolla hatchback 1.5vvti, I drove her car today and noticed that the heaters only worked when accelerator is pressed, when car is stoped and ticking over there is no heat coming into through the vents, seems strange any help appreciated, thanks Paul.

Is the fan working? As in is there air flow?

What Colm said....also have the pollen filter checked (often blocked, and can be just removed and thrown away) as the extra air-flow caused by the car moving will help the fan to force some warm air through the system.
The fan should be easily heard running, especially on the highest setting.

Have a google on the removal of pollen filter on this model...usually not too hard, and try driving without it.
Just make sure to replace the cover first.

OP, When you say its hot when the accelerator is pressed, you don't really mean its hot when the car is moving or anything do you?
As in is it blowing out cold air then suddenly hot air when you rev up?

I know it sounds daft, but if the car is stoped and ticking over, fans are on full blast and working,, its also on high heat setting, its blowing cold air, but if i rev up the engine it will blow out hot air !!!!

That's odd, anything odd with temp gauge, radiator hoses etc?

If it was only blowing hot air while being revved I'd be leaning towards a partially blocked heater matrix.

I just removed pollen filter and tried, no change, as i said only blows hot air when revs are up,either moving or parked, temp gauge working perfect no leaks or nothing :(
