For some time now my Sky HD box will not rewind live action, only going back about half a second and when I go forward it tells me to press Sky.
In spite of spending quite a long session with the nice Sky help lady it only worked for a short period after a software download, the thinking being it had missed a download having been switched off for a short time.
She did suggest perhaps I should look at the Sky insurance deal as the box is a few years old.Last night I tried the reboot, holding the backup button down and after a new update the fault is still there.
Options are perhaps to cancell, giving a months notice, and try to sign up for a new box, which may take quite a while to get,or pay the insurance?
Just wondered if anyone else has experienced a similar fault which seems to be the box rather than software? Thanks

Down to page 14 without a reply, maybe a record even for me.
The new box has arrived,60 hours of HD recording, and " On Demand" ,built in. Monthly sub reduced and a refund included.
Talking to oneself may be a sign of too much RF in previous job?

Have you tried a planner rebuild the sky agent should have talked you through it.
    Here's how: http://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-HD-Recording-Playback/Sky-HD-amp-Sky-Planner-Rebuild/ta-p/583396

Playback and recording issues are only usually related to the planner database on the HDD, this issue won't be related to the firmware, more than likely there was a slight change to the database format during the update which is why the issue was temporarily resolved with the first forced update.

Which box do you have and what firmware is it currently running.

The insurance deal really isn't worth it, you can get a sky engineer out for £65 and that fixed price covers the cost of anything that needs replacing, so if the Sky+HD box is faulty the Sky engineer will swap it out for a refurbished DRX890 which comes with a warranty.

DRX890 boxes are also dirt cheap on eBay about £25, their used but a lot of them aren't that old. Personally that's the best option.

If you've been a sky customer for a while you can often haggle a good deal on a new box if you phone up CS, in exchange for being tied into a 12 month contract.

Many thanks for taking an interest and getting back to me.
As I mentioned above they have sent an Engineer and new "On Demand built in box which works fine. They also reduced my sub a little when they pointed out that I was paying for the F1 package?news to me.There was no charge for the box or call out,he was all of 7 mins.As there is a poor 3g service it took the box a while to install after he left.
I suppose the old box, which works fine except for the live rewind problem,is only really of proper use as a PVR etc if I spend another £10/month for multi room.
Thanks again ,makes a differance, from the sniping remarks from the usual suspects.
