Been playing for a year now and slowly improving. One thing I'd like some advice on is golf balls. I need to buy new balls for the weekend. Should I just buy the cheapest (dunlop) or should I spend that bit extra on more expensive ones? How much difference does the ball make to a guy playing off 24?

TBH, this time of the year with greens as soft as they are, not that much IMO. Get a half decent ball, but no need to get a premium one

No need for a premium ball at all at the moment. I was spinning Pinnacles over the weekend.
A lot nicer ball to loose also.

I started using Srixon distance balls a couple of months ago and they have performed well for me. At slightly over EUR 1.00 per ball I don't think you can go wrong.

I still play Pro V's in the winter.
Not so much for spin/control, but I hate using a harder ball for putting.

I switched from ProVs to Wilson FG Tours about 6 months ago, they were available for €18.99 a dozen (cosmetic blemish, normally about €35 a dozen), so I gave them a go. Really good ball, quite similar to the proV, although I find they spin slightly less on full shots, which I like.
The website you posted on another link (http://www.golfbuyitonline.com) had them in - they were sold out everywhere else - €84 for 6 dozen, so thanks for that! I was almost out of them.

Perhaps you should consider looking on Adverts.ie for balls. No need to pay silly money for new balls when they become used after the 1st tee. ;)

I ordered a club on a Saturday evening and took possession of a well boxed and packaged brand new hybrid on the following Thursday, a pleasure to do business with.

Halpenny Golf were selling two dozen Callaway Warbird for €30 last week and two dozen Srixon AD333 for €35.

As people have said, look around for good bargains at this time of year.

Or if you have a dog, take it for a walk along the right hand rough (most people are right handed and slice).

I used to pick up bags of finders from a guy who went hoaking.

Ordered Thursday afternoon. Dispatched within a couple of hours, received on Monday morning. Deliverer sent a text in advance giving a 2 hour time frame within which they would be delivered (They don't use An Post). Overall, excellent to deal with.

Excellent, that's two good reports from boards.
I may go shopping, I see they have a 15% off code on certain products on the front page of the website which is valid till Sunday night.

    Bridgestone E7 balls.

Any one using them and if so how do they find them. Hate using a hard ball with little or no feel around the greens and putting

€9.60 for 12 in Sports Direct at the mo.

Started using the srixon ad333 recently, on offer in nevada bobs 20 quid for the dozen, I noticed they are very straight off the drive, and they never scuff, after a few rounds they still look brand new,
I am a big believer in ball suitability , trying to find the right one, Found I got a lot of hooks from pro v's , too much spin maybe.

The Dunlop DDH is great value also in sportsworld 24 for 15 euro, they are fine balls..
