    Hi,

Had a service done last week and also put oil in my tank and tonight have run out of oil...

Now heres the thing, since it was serviced it has had the control switch replaced but ever since then it will not switch off automatticly anymore like it used to ( i could stand over it for 2 hrs and it runs and runs never switching off like it used to before the service )

Also its using twice as much oil now as well as I have being watching its oil usage closely for many weeks before and after service..

Not getting into details but the plummer who did the work I reckon was a cowboy and I trust myself to put this right as I am very hands on and not afraid to do the work myself but I know very little about these burners and would appreciate any ideas anyone else would have to help solve the issue.

I'm sure the issues are very simple to solve as it was running fine beforehand and I will not be getting this guy back again to look at it as i dont trust him as he seemed very cagey when asked any technical questions during the service...

Any help would be much appreciated guys

What do you mean by control switch? I'm guessing the dual thermosat and its seem to be wired incorrectly with the permanent live to burner in which case it runs for two hours without cutting out?

yes thats it i think as i had to go to pj matthews here in limerick myself as the guy said he had to go to another job and it was a simple thing to replace but i noticed that there was a wire hanging loose and could see it was previously connected to a ground point to the right of the burner so i reattached it and tried to get it going using the reset switch...No joy... so i rang the guy to come back which he did and within 5 mins of him being back it was working and he left but since then it does not switch off when it reaches tempeture it just burns and burns and now i have rum out of oil tonight and theres no way im getting this guy back because i think he is just a blagger to be honest

But i would rather DIY this as I know its a simple error just need a nudge in the right direction as funds are very tight as we are renevating a cottage here and the last thing I need is a hefty bill from a plumber for a 10 minute job which he decides he will charge 2 hrs for and believe me they are out there :D

Yes that the earth bonding you connected,

    Get a professional

Do not run boiler until then for fear it will over heat you can't rely on the high limit to cut the power.

That confirms my suspicions then, this guy obviously did something with the wiring and ran after he realised his mistake and couldn't figure out what he did wrong.

Will have a look at the wiring tomorrow if I can find a wiring Diagram and if i cant figure it out after that will have to cut my losses and get a Pro to have a look for me,

Many thanks for your help :)
