Hi Folks. I have a coolant leak in my audi A3, 2003 (8P) 2.0TDI. It looks like the EGR cooler is the culprit. I was wondering can the egr be blanked off or does anyone know any sites that sell them cheaper than dealer. I haven't got a price from Audi yet. Thanks in advance for the help.

You can only blank the EGR if you get the car remapped at the same time to suit, otherwise you will have problems with engine management lights etc.

To the best of my knowledge the EGR cooler is a main dealer only part, and they don't come cheap :(

not good. not good at all. I'm finding it hard to ignore it. I'm topping it once a week.

Why would you need an egr cooler?

Part of emissions control. Blanking the egr removes the cooler. Alternatively the coolant pipes to the cooler could be removed from it and joined, bypassing the egr cooler and the leak within. Depending on how bad the leak was there may or may not be exhaust leaking out of the coolant ports. Its a short term fix though.
