ACCA P6

    Hi guys,

Great forum, just after a some advice please.

I have passed all my exams from beginning first time except for P7 and P6 in December 2012 sitting, In June 2013 I cleared P7 but failed P6 again.

So now I got one exam left but have 4.5 years out of my 10 year ACCA limit, I am getting worried that I won't be able to pass this paper in 4.5 years.

I got my highest result in F6 Taxation and really enjoyed it and I don't mind studying for P6 either but there is something about this paper I just can't get grasp of.

5 weeks to go, I covered all the areas AGAIN, now doing questions but I tend to look at the answer and do the questions as I get lost in which direction I am going in. I recently started attempting the questions myself as well but don't feel ready for my 3rd attempt just yet.

Any revision tips would be much appreciated everyone.

    Thank you very much.

I get the impression that this is more a confidence and study technique issue since you enjoy the topic. You need to practice more questions under exam conditions in my opinion. Books closed and timed as per exam. Attempting questions under these conditions for the first time in the exam itself doesn't work. You may make some poor attempts but will improve up to a point where you are confident when sitting the exam.

You have about 10 possible attempts left going by your 5.5 years remaining. If you think it will take anywhere near this amount of attempts, you should try a different option if you do not pass this December I believe.

Thank you for your reply thefa.

To be honest your right, the more question practice the more confidence.

Lately I have been glancing at the answer very briefly and then close the answer and attempt the question at the allocated time and feel better for it.

Still got 4 weeks so I am planning to just do much questions as possible under timed conditions.

Also I have broke the parts into 3 areas, A) Taxation of Individuals, B) Capital Taxes and C) Corporation Tax.

In the same boat as you, third time this Dec and ive not been able to get in much study for other reasons. I think at this stage i might just do as many questions as possible, i find the papers challenging enough from the new examiner, just missed out on it last time was gutted and finding it hard to settle back.

Did you do lectures for it and who with?you based in Dublin?
