remember a short story about potato picking kids who were skipping school ,thought it would be a great day and turned out back breaking ,we did it in school around 1980 ?
Can anyone remember what this story was and who wrote it please ?

I also did that one and can still remember it over thirty years later which is surely the mark of a great story. I have a feeling it is a Brian Friel story and called The Potato Gatherers or something similar. It might well be in the Exploring English book of short stories for Inter Cert which has been re-issued.
